Experience :
** fiber splicing experience both new construction and repairs
** Sound experience in Fiber Optic Installation, Inspection, Commissioning, Termination and Maintenance.
** Experience in Telecommunications / Electrical Engineering works
** Experience as Linesman with two years in Fiber optic works (Installation, Splicing, Termination and Maintenance).
Job Description :
Technical Key responsibilities :
** Installation, repair, and maintenance of all of the Fiber Optic systems/installations
** Responsible for the integrity of the fiber system and telecommunications
** Responsible to handle the Fusion Splicing of Ribbon and Loose tube fiber..
** Responsible to use OTDR, LS ,PS and other fiber testing equipments dealing with Fiber cable laying, splicing, termination & Testing for Telecom works
** Works in external environment with exposure to live electricity (Transmission and Distribution lines), at height above 10metres, confined spaces, etc.
** Splicing & termination of fiber optic cables for new construction, repair, and maintenance
** Installation, Testing and Commissioning of the new and rehabilitated fiber opric installations and/or systems.
** Routine Preventive maintenance of Fiber optic systems
** Auditing on performance of Fiber optic installations/systems, and reports preparations thereafter
** Compute impedance of wires from poles to houses to determine additional resistance needed for reducing signals to desired levels.
** Use a variety of construction equipment to complete installations, such as digger derricks, trenchers, cable plows, bucket trucks or vans, etc
** Dig holes for power poles, using power augers or shovels, set poles in place with cranes, and hoist poles upright, using winches.
** Inspect or test fiber optic lines or cables, Analysing and recording test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
** Access specific areas to string lines or install terminal boxes, auxiliary equipment, or appliances, using van trucks, or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.
** Lay underground cable directly in trenches or string it through conduits running through trenches.
** String cables between structures and lines from poles, towers, or trenches and pull lines to proper tension, and measure signal strength at utility poles, using electronic test equipment
General responsibilities :
** Responds to 24×7 emergency response operations and during clients network outages
** Working beyond normal hours and weekends whenever a need rise.
** Full accountability in EH&S, productivity, quality, workmanship and customer service
** To work in a neat and professional manner
** Uses excellent hearing and listening skills to receive detailed information
** Other duties as assigned by the Line Manager (Immediate supervisor)

Ability :
** Ability to work and adhere to strict/tight deadlines in a team environment.

** Ability to be punctual and manage time effectively;

** Ability to climb wooden poles,
** Ability to Read, Interpret and Understand AutoCAD drawings
** Ability to Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
** Ability to work in vaults, manholes, aerial extensions machines, poles, trenches, and tight spaces.
** Ability to Maintain body equilibrium, especially when working over height, to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching;
** Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
** Bending legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees.
** Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
** Ability to multi-task
** Ability to deal with and solve problems using solid judgment skills
Requirements :
** Diploma/FTC in Fiber Optic from a recognized institution; or
** Diploma/FTC in Telecommunication and/or Electrical Engineering, with at least Three years’ experience in Fiber Optic works,
** Working knowledge of IEE/IEEE/IEC/BS Specifications and Standards
** Ability to read and thoroughly understand various drawings
** Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite 2007 or later
** Strong attention-to-detail (essential for creating detailed technical illustrations/drawings)
** Great Written and Verbal communication skills
** At least 2 year of experience in Telecommunications / Electrical Engineering works
** Three years’ experience as Linesman with two years in Fiber optic works (Installation, Splicing and Termination).
** Possess International Passport and Valid Driving Licence
