About us :
** Hesketh Henry began its life with a challenging horseback journey from Dunedin to Auckland.
** When Thomas Bannatyne Gillies arrived in Auckland in 1865, he went to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and Industry to get some handy hints on the Auckland business scene for his practice.
** Gillies had initially set up his law practice in Dunedin, but his instincts suggested that greater prospects lay in the colonial town of Auckland, which had a population of twelve thousand at the time, and a Chamber of Commerce which had been established only nine years previously in 1856.
** Gillies opened offices in Wyndham Street and was soon joined by John Richmond. Edwin Hesketh joined the firm in 1870, a year after Gillies retired to become Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
