Job Summary:
The Training Officer will focus on developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating Right To Play training and learning activities in Tham Hin and Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelters. This will be done through training of camp based staff, teachers and leaders and supporting these positions in managing coaches, teachers and implementing the programs. The Training Officer will ensure that the organization’s learning resources and training standards, as well as its policies and procedures are implemented properly. The Training Officer is expected to provide support to the Project Coordinator (PC) in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the Right To Play program. The Training Officer will also support the Refugee Program through assistance at special events and occasional training of other Right To Play staff. The Training Officer will take a lead role in building the capacity of Right To Play Leaders, including coaching, mentoring and supervision. The Training Officer will be responsible for training management, including monitoring through the Performance Measurement Framework, and submitting regular reports to the PC and accounting for project funds they will be entrusted within the course of their work.
Location Description:
The position is based in Kanchanaburi with regular (often daily) travel to Tham Hin & Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelters. Occasional travel may be required to Mae Sot and other locations around the country for the purpose of conducting teacher, volunteer and partner staff training, coaching, mentoring and supervision, including regular supervision visits. Thus, the successful candidate must be willing to travel out of Kanchanaburi for up to a week at a time. The position is also expected to provide support to other Right To Play projects in Thailand from time to time, as deemed necessary by the Program Manager or Country Manager.
Specific responsibilities:
1. Project Administration and Coordination
** Coordinate the logistics and administrative requirements of conducting workshops;
** Complete regular and timely training and monthly reports and submit to the PC;
** Assist the PC in ensuring transparent accounting of training finances in line with Right To Play regulations, and in reporting regularly to the Mae Sot Sub-Office;
** Ensure transparent management of training assets, stocks and cash advances;
** Assist in collecting M & E data in line with the Performance Measurement Framework, including ensure all activities involving children are included in regular reports;
** Facilitate and assist on-camp staff in the organization of special events, including play days, closing ceremonies, VIP visits and other events;
** Coordinate with other NGOs to ensure Right To Play participation in NGO events;
** Assist camp based staff in producing, managing and monitoring regular activity schedules for children;
** Motivate coaches and teachers in volunteering for their community;
** Ensure that all activities involving children are included in the numbers reported.
** Coordinate with the Camp Committee and CBOs to ensure that Right To Play teams are included in camp events and that assistance from RTP is given when possible.
2. Adult Education and Workshop Facilitation:
** Deliver regular and refresher trainings for all Leaders with whom Right To Play is implementing its activities, ensuring all Leaders are properly trained;
** Provide regular coaching, mentoring and supervision of all Leaders with whom Right To Play is implementing its activities;
** Review existing and prepare new training material
** Maintain transparent training schedule for camp based coaches and teachers
** Provide training in project management for camp based staff
** Support RTTs and Leaders in implementing Right To Play activities, and carrying out monitoring/evaluating tasks;
** Ensure that regular evaluations (outputs and outcomes) are carried out in coordination with rest of the Refugee Program Team.
3. Networking and Partnership Building
** Maintain a good working relationship with Ministry of Interior Officials responsible for the Camps and inform the PC of any challenges or changes to regulations that arise.
** Assist in ensuring regular and ongoing with stakeholders;
** Ensure Camp Committee and other Camp Authorities/CBOs are aware of Right To Play’s training schedules;
** Assist in building and maintaining partnerships with parent-teacher associations, refugee leaders and community groups;
** Cooperate with other partner staff, NGOs and CBOs, maintaining a good working relationship. Ensure the PC is informed of any developments/initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
** Previous experience with an NGO;
** Fluency in English and Thai;
** Confidence;
** Experience in education delivery and adult training;
** Computer literacy in Word and Excel;
** University Degree, preferably in a related field;
** Belief in and agreement with the Child Protection Principles outlined in the Right To Play Child Protection Policy and Implementation Guidelines;
** Belief in the importance of sport as an effective learning tool.
Desirable:
** Fluency in Karen and/or Burmese
** Experience in child development; and
** Experience with the Thai Refugee Setting.
