The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking a dynamic, proactive, experienced and analytical individual with strong team building skills to fill the position of Regional Medical Epidemiologist/HIV Coordinator.

Reporting to the Regional Technical Director, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and collaborating Regional plans and programmes for reducing the incidence of communicable and noncommunicable diseases and other health conditions in the Region.

The ideal candidate will meet the following educational criteria :
** Medical Doctor (M.B.B.S)
** Post Graduate training in Epidemiology or Health Promotion
** Minimum of three (3) years’ related experience.
** Good computer skills
** Three (3) years experience at supervisory level

Specific Knowledge Required :
** Knowledge of Epidemiology
** Knowledge of Service Level Agreement
** Knowledge of research techniques
** Well developed organizational and analytical skills
** Must be computer literate

Key responsibilities will include :
** Collaborating in the development of Regional plans and programmes for reducing the incidence of communicable and non-communicable diseases and other health conditions of significance in the Region.
** Ensuring the maintenance and operation of surveillance systems for health events and conditions of significance to the Region, (communicable and non-communicable disease, and cancer registry).
** Collaborating with MIS and Health Records Administrator to ensure the proper functioning of the system for (a) data collection (b) data compilation.
** Ensuring the generation of timely and accurate reports for Regional use and for submission to the Ministry of Health.
** Advising on all matters relating to Epidemiology in the Region and coordinate and implement outbreak investigations.
** Providing technical leadership in the parishes of the Region in the analysis of health programme indicators and plans for their achievement.
