The Children’s Village :
Children’s Eco Village is a 3 year project started by Islamic Help which aims to support its already growing Orphan Care Program. Set on 30 acres of lush green surroundings, the village will have 16 children homes, a sports ground, a playground, a mosque, a community centre, library, a training centre and a permaculture farm. Taking advantage of its natural environment, the project intends to create a harmonious, eco-friendly environment with ample greenery with a modern outlook. The buildings and structures are designed to consume low energy with a functional and productive use of space. The training center and the farm will be used to not only generate income for the village but also provide the neighboring communities a role model for community development and capacity building.

Purpose of the Post :
To lead the eco village staff in promoting a green, clean, pleasant and productive environment for the children and provide overall strategic and leadership for the programme.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
** Policy implementation in line with Children’s eco-village’s principles, mission and vision as stated in the SOP
** Responsible for leadership and co-ordination of all village activities
** To provide training, guidance and support to workers
** To promote personal and professional development of the eco-village workers
** To represent the eco-village in the community
** To contribute towards development of effective partnerships and networks with other communities surrounding the village
** To work with the eco village community adapting and promoting a culture of eco friendly living
** Manage and improve the permaculture farm
** Develop and implement eco friendly alternatives on building construction and energy consumption at affordable rates
** To support the care-givers (mothers) and ensure the well being of all the eco-village families
** To plan and control the village budget

Knowledge and skill requirements :
** University degree in social science/ development studies/ education
** Post graduate qualification in programme development field will be a strong advantage
** Should have knowledge/ proven experience in permaculture and eco friendly building construction
** Knowledge and practical experience with sustainable community development approaches

2. Orphan Care Program Officer :
Report to : Head of Operations
Location : Dar Es Salaam
Hours of Work : Full Time
Annual Salary :Competitive

Purpose of the Post :
** To monitor the orphans, secure orphan information, ensuring orphan payment and providing Donor Feedback reporting service for orphan children in Tanzania. Moreover, to conduct assessments and surveys for the orphan children in Tanzania and to design need based innovative projects based on primary data.
** To ensure that effective methods are put into place so that the orphan care program operations run smoothly and to its maximum productivity.

Key Responsibilities :
** Responsible for directing orphan care project development from start to end
** Responsible for establishing a reliable and consistent set of outcome indicators for all activities in the orpghan care department
** Supervise, Manage and monitor the IHtz Orphanages and all field staff of Orphan Care Program of IH Tanzania
** Manage need assessment of highly deserving and under-privileged orphans families for sponsorship
** Assist the Head of Operations, Concern bodies in the preparation of different reports including annual reports.
** Continuous assessment of Orphan education, and socio-economic status
** To constantly monitor and ensure transparency in the most sensitive department of orphan care of Islamic Help Tanzania.
** To develop concept notes and design new projects in close coordination with Head of Operations
** To build capacity building plans for staff reporting to this position
** To manage, supervise and support the staff reporting to this position using performance monitoring and appraisal tools
** Regularly review and improve Islamic Help Tanzania program system
** Develop full scale project plans and associated communications documents
** Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentations and presentations
** Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel

Knowledge and skills requirements :
** Demonstrate Substantive knowledge in economic and community development, planning, workforce development and public policy/administration
** Demonstrate knowledge of computer and relevant software applications with a good command in English.
** An advanced degree in related field strongly preferred with a minimum of 2 years experience
