Job Title : Security Specialist – Network Perimeter: (Level 5/6)
Reports to : Senior Manager: IT Security
Summation : Reports to the Senior Manager: IT Security. Designs, Plans, implements and provides proactive management and support for all security firewalls within the enterprise to meet business requirements. Responsible for configuration and administration of the file transfer protocol. Identify and resolve (hardware and software) technical problems and malfunctions related to firewalls.
Key Responsibilities :
** Manages the Security Firewalls functionality within the South African Post Office Group
** Develop and implement Firewall policies, rules as well as rule sets and apply updates to objects and policies to ensure the environment is secure to the highest possible level
** Identify all Post Office Group requirements necessary for the protection of all information processed, stored, and / or transmitted by the information systems; develop and implement plans, policies and procedures necessary to ensure compliance
** Ensure critical Internet Services are properly configured for inter-communication between the Intranet, DMZ and Internet – This usually includes the Proxy Server, the DNS server, the WEB server, the FTP server and SMTP relay server amongst other services
** Monitor the network to ensure compliance with security policies, assess and mitigate the threat levels
** Audit the Operating System (OS) environment for security strength and apply necessary changes and patches to keep security up to ISO standards
** Checks functionality of hardware, software and IOS regularly to minimise unnecessary downtime
** Trace, find and solve firewall problems as well as network communication problems – Identify all system violations; document and report the results of questionable users and system activity for departmental inquiries
** Collaborate well with management and various cross functional teams in order to ensure timely delivery of solutions that drive successful business outcomes
** Mitigate firewall security issues such as threats, risks and weaknesses as well as manage its performance and capacity
** Implement new developments and enhancements to the firewalls
** Perform any other tasks assigned by Infosec management
** Ensure the efficient management, control and compliance of function / resources in accordance with the stipulations of the PFMA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, legislation, corporate governance, company policies, processes, regulations, Delegation of Powers, etc.
Job requirements :
** Minimum qualification of NQF Level 6: applicable Degree in Information Technology
** Certified Checkpoint Security Associate (CCSA is essential), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Security.
** Certification in the following areas would be advantageous: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
** Minimum of 5 years’ experience and 3 years of which specialising in the Network Perimeter Security environment
** Experience in Fortiweb would be advantageous
** An excellent knowledge, understanding and experience in Checkpoint Firewall techniques and concepts
** Essential to have working knowledge of operational security on the LAN/WAN, VPN technologies, Internet services, vulnerability,assessment,disaster recovery and business continuity
