Folium Optics Ltd was formed in November 2013 by the former lead technologists from Hewlett Packard’s displays research group. We have 5 employees and are looking to grow theteam.
We develop colourful, low power, reflective, plastic display technology, and have our own dedicated cleanroom facility for prototyping and technology development. Our customers include well known multinationals and we offer a range of services from materials development to prototype system design and fabrication.
We are customer, rather than technology driven, and have recently secured contracts in a number of fields, as diverse as medical, defence and wearables, as well as winning a number of UK government grants.
What Is The Job?
We are looking for a development engineer with a broad range of electronics, embedded and mechatronic skills, who can also be a practical, hands on, engineer in the lab when needs be. As part of a small team there will be many opportunities to develop and learn new skills. You will be developing prototypes and systems based on plastic displays, and working to develop new processes and techniques for making, connecting and interfacing to ourdisplays.
Who Are You?
You are enthusiastic and have a love of technical problem solving. You have a degree in an appropriate discipline. You are a team player and have skills and experience in one or more of the following :-
** EE skills in design, CAD implementation of PCBs, electronics fabrication, test and debug
** mechanical design (using modelling CAD) and implementation
** programming embedded microcontrollers in C or equivalent
** low power design
** some FPGA/PLD implementation experience
** system automation, programming in LabView
** mechatronics and mechanical automation in realtime
** cleanroom working
** ‘prototype to production’ experience
